New initiative to make Sweden the best in Europe at skicross
The Swedish Ski Association is now launching a new project to strengthen Swedish skicross. The initiative is called "Team Svenska Spel 2.0 Skicross" and is carried out in collaboration with Svenska Spel. The goal is to create the best environment in Europe for young athletes who want to develop within the sport after graduating from high school.
Through this project, the association wants to give more Swedish skiers the opportunity to continue their careers at a professional level. It is often a difficult period for athletes when they leave school, and many choose to quit if there is no good support. The new team will serve as a bridge between the junior level and the absolute world elite.
Sweden has already had great international success in skicross, with several medals in both the World Championships and the Olympics. To maintain this strong position, it is necessary for new talents to be given the right conditions to train and compete. The new development environment will offer both the expertise and resources required to achieve international success.
The initiative is seen as an important step for the future of Swedish winter sports. By investing in young skiers, the Swedish Ski Association hopes that Sweden will continue to be a leading nation in skicross for many years to come. The project is expected to attract more young people to commit wholeheartedly to their sport.
