Lower preschool fees and new laws from July 1
As of July 1, several new laws come into effect that affect your finances and everyday life. Among the primary changes are reduced fees for preschool and new requirements for Swedish language skills for staff in elderly care.
In addition to the financial relief for families with children, the legislative changes mean that cousin marriage is now prohibited in Sweden. These changes are part of a larger package of new rules coming into force at the turn of the half-year.
Regarding personal safety, new statistics show a sharp decrease in fatal violence. So far this year, eight people have been shot to death, which is a significant decline compared to previous years. On the other hand, it is reported that the number of explosions in the country remains at a high level.
For those who ride electric scooters, the rules may soon be tightened. The government is reviewing the possibility of introducing an age limit, similar to the rules already in place in Norway, Denmark, and Finland, where you must be between 12 and 15 years old to ride.
