Gang leader Haval Khalil extradited to Sweden
The suspected gang leader Haval Khalil has now been extradited to Sweden. He was arrested last week in Romania after being wanted by Swedish authorities. The extradition is now confirmed by the prosecutor to TV4 Nyheterna.
Haval Khalil has for a long time been a central figure within Swedish gang crime. His arrest in Romania was the result of international police cooperation. After he was apprehended, a legal process was initiated to bring him back to Sweden to stand trial.
Now that Khalil is in Swedish custody, legal proceedings await. The police and the prosecution authority have worked intensively on the case to ensure that he can be prosecuted for the crimes he is suspected of. It is not yet clear exactly when the first interrogations will take place.
The extradition is seen as an important event in the work against serious organized crime in Sweden. The authorities emphasize that international cooperation is crucial to be able to arrest individuals who try to escape justice by leaving the country.
