More Swedish gang criminals arrested in Spain
Increased cooperation between Swedish and Spanish police has led to more criminals with ties to Swedish gangs being arrested this year. So far this year, 31 people have been arrested in Spain, which is a clear increase compared to the same period last year.
The figure for this year is seven people higher than for the whole of last year. The close cooperation between the countries' police authorities has made it more difficult for people fleeing justice to hide abroad. Spain has long been a destination where individuals with ties to the criminal environment in Sweden have chosen to reside.
The police's work focuses on tracking down individuals who are wanted for various types of crimes in Sweden. By sharing information and resources, the police can more quickly identify and arrest the suspects on the Spanish Costa del Sol and in other parts of the country.
This international cooperation is seen as an important part of the fight against organized crime in Sweden. By reducing the opportunity for criminals to operate from abroad, the authorities hope to weaken gang networks and reduce violence in Swedish society.
