710 Kilometers on Foot: A Politician Keeps His Promise
Swiss politician Alex Hürzeler has completed an impressive journey. In 28 days, he hiked from the French capital, Paris, back to his home canton of Aargau. In total, he covered a distance of 710 kilometers on foot.
The reason for this long hike was a political promise. Hürzeler, who was a member of the Aargau cantonal government for many years, had announced that he would make this journey after his resignation. He wanted to show that he keeps his promises, even when they are physically very demanding.
The journey lasted almost a month. Every day, the politician had to hike many kilometers, often in varying weather conditions. The route led him through large parts of France to the Swiss border. Despite the great effort, he remained motivated and finally reached his goal.
His hike was closely followed in the media. Many people admired his endurance and discipline. For Hürzeler, the hike was also a time for reflection after his long career in politics. It was a symbolic conclusion to an important stage of his life.
Now Alex Hürzeler has arrived back home in Aargau. He has proven that with willpower, one can cover even very long distances. He has successfully fulfilled his promise and can now begin his new chapter of life after active politics.
