Survey on the 10-Million Initiative: Majority of Swiss currently opposed
Switzerland will soon vote on an important political initiative. It concerns the project "No 10-million Switzerland," which was launched by the Swiss People's Party (SVP). A current survey now shows that a majority of the population currently rejects this proposal.
The aim of the initiative is to limit population growth in Switzerland. The SVP wants to prevent more than ten million people from living in the country. The party argues that excessive immigration could strain infrastructure, the environment, and the quality of life in Switzerland.
According to the latest survey, 52 percent of eligible voters would currently vote "No." This means that more than half of the respondents are against the SVP's plans. Although the result is close, it shows a clear trend against the initiative.
Despite the negative survey results, SVP President Marcel Dettling remains combative. He stays optimistic and believes that his party can still convince voters in the coming weeks. Dettling emphasizes that the issue of immigration remains very important to many citizens.
Other major parties such as the SP, the FDP, and The Centre view the survey results positively. They feel confirmed in their rejection of the initiative. For them, it is clear that Switzerland relies on skilled workers from abroad to keep the economy stable.
The debate over the future of the Swiss population will certainly intensify in the coming weeks. Until the official voting day, both sides have time to present their arguments and win over undecided citizens.
