Where do most income millionaires live in Switzerland?
A new analysis by the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) reveals interesting details about the distribution of high incomes in Switzerland. In 2022, there were a total of 7,666 people across Switzerland who reported an annual income of more than one million francs for tax purposes.
The data clarifies that wealth is not only concentrated in well-known locations often referred to as the "Gold Coast." The statistics provide insight into the financial situation of the country's highest-earning residents and show how many people in the various cantons belong to the group of income millionaires.
Interestingly, there are significant differences between regions in the distribution of millionaires. While some cantons have a high density of very wealthy individuals, there are very few taxpayers with such high incomes in other parts of Switzerland.
These figures are based on official tax returns from 2022. They provide an important foundation for economic analysis and illustrate how the income structure in Switzerland has developed over the past few years.
