Swiss deep-tech startups lead the world in investments
Switzerland holds a top position in the financing of innovative future technologies. Current data shows that 63 percent of all venture capital in the country flows into so-called deep-tech startups. This puts Switzerland ahead of major economic powers such as China and the USA in an international comparison.
Deep-tech companies develop technologies based on complex scientific discoveries or technological breakthroughs. These include areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and new solutions in biotechnology. These firms are considered particularly promising for the future, as they often offer solutions to global challenges.
In comparison, China invests about 56 percent of its venture capital in this sector, while in the USA it is around 54 percent. The high concentration in Switzerland underscores the country's importance as a hub for research and innovation. Many of these startups emerge in close contact with renowned Swiss universities such as ETH Zurich or EPFL in Lausanne.
For institutional investors from Switzerland, this development represents an interesting opportunity. As a large portion of capital is already flowing into this area, the ecosystem for investments is growing steadily. Experts are now observing how this strong financial support will affect the long-term competitiveness of the Swiss economy.
