Heatwave in Switzerland: Temperatures rise to up to 34 degrees
Summer in Switzerland is set to stay with us for a while longer. After a short phase with more pleasant values, temperatures will rise significantly again starting this weekend. Meteorologists expect Switzerland to remain firmly in the grip of a heatwave.
As early as Sunday, temperatures across the country will climb to up to 32 degrees. The peak of the current heatwave is expected for the coming Monday. At that point, values could even rise to as high as 34 degrees. People across the country must therefore prepare for very hot days.
Many Swiss people are currently waiting for a cool-down or the long-awaited rain. So far, however, there are no signs of a change in the weather. The persistent drought and high temperatures mean that the risk of forest fires remains an important issue in many regions.
Experts advise the population to be particularly careful in this heat. It is important to drink enough water and avoid physical exertion in the blazing sun. Especially elderly people and children should stay in the shade or in cool indoor spaces during the hottest time of the day.
It remains to be seen when Switzerland will finally get the longed-for cooling from a thunderstorm or a change in weather. Until then, all residents should prepare for further hot summer days.
