Swiss deep-tech startups lead the world in investment
Switzerland holds a top position in investment in forward-looking technologies. Current data show that 63 percent of all venture capital in the country flows into so-called deep-tech startups. This puts Switzerland ahead of major economies like China and the USA in an international comparison.
Deep-tech companies develop complex scientific or technical solutions that are often based on years of research. These firms are working, for example, on breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, robotics, or quantum physics. Because these technologies are highly innovative, they are considered important engines for future economic growth.
For comparison: 56 percent of venture capital flows into this sector in China, and 54 percent in the USA. The fact that Switzerland exceeds these figures underscores the high quality of research at Swiss universities and the innovative strength of the local startup scene. Institutional investors in Switzerland are now monitoring this development closely.
For Swiss investors, this trend represents new opportunities, but also a challenge. Since deep-tech projects often require a long development period, they demand patience and a long-term investment strategy. Nevertheless, the sector is considered promising for securing the competitiveness of the Swiss economy in the long term.
