Fireworks Depot in the Canton of Zurich Burns Down: No Injuries
Last night, a major fire department operation took place in the Canton of Zurich. A fireworks warehouse caught fire in the municipality of Uitikon-Waldegg. The fire broke out shortly before midnight, causing heavy smoke and flames that were visible from afar.
Residents reported loud banging noises as the stored fireworks exploded in the depot. The local fire department arrived quickly with numerous emergency personnel to fight the blaze. Their main goal was to bring the fire under control and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings.
Fortunately, according to current information from the authorities, there are no injuries. At the time the fire broke out, there were no people in the building. Emergency services were able to secure the situation before anyone was harmed, which is particularly important in fires involving warehouses with explosive materials.
The depot was almost completely destroyed by the fire. The property damage is extensive, as not only the building but also its entire contents were destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is still completely unclear and is the subject of ongoing investigations.
Specialists from the Zurich Cantonal Police have already begun their investigation at the scene of the fire. They are looking for clues as to how the fire started. The firefighting efforts continued into the early hours of the morning until all embers were extinguished.
According to the police, there was no direct danger to the public from toxic gases, although the dark cloud of smoke was clearly visible over the municipality. Cleanup work at the scene is expected to take some time while the police continue their work.
