Heatwave in Switzerland: Federal government warns of temperatures up to 36 degrees
The Swiss federal government has issued an official heat warning for the coming days. Starting Sunday, residents in various regions of the country must prepare for very high temperatures. Meteorologists expect values of up to 36 degrees Celsius.
Northwestern Switzerland is particularly affected. In addition, the warning applies to the areas around Lake Biel, Lake Neuchâtel, and Lake Geneva. For these regions, the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology has issued warning level 3.
Warning level 3 means that there is a significant risk to health. Elderly people, the chronically ill, and small children in particular should be careful in this heat. Experts recommend avoiding physical exertion in the midday sun and drinking plenty of water.
The heatwave is expected to last for several days. The authorities are monitoring the weather development closely and will publish further information if necessary. It is advisable to follow local weather reports regularly and to adapt your activities to the high temperatures.
