New Innovation Space: OST Opens Makerspace “BOX” in St. Gallen
The University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (OST) reached a new milestone for its students on August 20, 2026. The new makerspace, named “BOX,” was officially opened at the Lerchenfeld campus in St. Gallen.
The project is a modern workshop that serves as a creative workspace for students. The makerspace provides access to various technical equipment and tools to put their own ideas into practice and develop prototypes.
The facility is intended to promote exchange between the various departments. Through the open design of the “BOX,” students have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and realize innovative projects outside of the traditional lecture hall.
With this opening, the OST underscores its goal of further strengthening practice-oriented education in the region. The new space is an important step in further developing the Lerchenfeld campus as an attractive location for research and technical design.
