Switzerland is currently experiencing an intense heatwave that is making the whole country sweat. Particularly in the Basel region, extreme values have been reached that are unusually high for this time of year.
A new temperature record has now been measured in Basel: the thermometer climbed to an impressive 39.7 degrees Celsius. This value marks a historic high for the region and underscores the intensity of the current weather situation.
Temperatures remain at a very high level in other parts of Switzerland as well. Meteorologists expect values between 35 and 36 degrees for the coming days. This persistent heat poses a strain on both people and nature.
Authorities and weather services are monitoring the situation closely. It is recommended to take it easy physically in these temperatures, drink plenty of water, and avoid direct sunlight during midday hours. Caution is advised, especially for the elderly and children.
