Ski jumping legend Simon Ammann supports Special Olympics Switzerland
Simon Ammann is one of Switzerland's most successful athletes. The four-time Olympic champion in ski jumping is known worldwide for his great successes on the hill. However, today the athlete often finds his most emotional moments away from professional sports. Ammann has been intensively involved for a long time with "Special Olympics Switzerland," an organization for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
As an ambassador, Ammann wants to show how important inclusion in sports is. The Special Olympics are not just about medals or records, but above all about the joy of movement and community. The ski jumper repeatedly emphasizes that sport has a special power. It can bring people together and sustainably strengthen the self-confidence of people with disabilities.
In a recent conversation, Ammann explained why this work touches him so deeply. He particularly admires the openness and the honest emotions of the participants. Compared to the tough world of professional sports, which is often characterized by great pressure and competition, he experiences a very warm and direct atmosphere at the Special Olympics. These encounters give him a lot of personal energy and a new perspective on his own career.
Simon Ammann's commitment is an important sign for Swiss society. It serves as a reminder that every person deserves the chance to celebrate sporting successes and be part of a group. Through the support of prominent role models, the topic of inclusion receives more attention in Switzerland, which is crucial for the future of sport and social cohesion.
