Chinese car manufacturer Chery begins exports to Switzerland
The Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery is expanding into the European market and is now also focusing on Switzerland. At a celebratory ceremony in China, the company announced the official launch of the first vehicle shipments to Switzerland.
A total of 500 units of the "Tiggo" model have been prepared for the Swiss market. With this step, Chery aims to expand its presence in Europe and offer Swiss customers a new alternative in the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment.
The Tiggo model series is already very successful in China and is known for its modern features. Whether the vehicles will be distributed in Switzerland through a proprietary dealer network or through partnerships with existing importers is expected to be announced in more detail in the coming weeks.
For the Swiss automotive market, Chery's market entry means increased competition. As more and more Chinese brands bring their electric and hybrid models to Europe, consumers will have a wider selection of vehicles in various price ranges in the future.
It remains to be seen how Swiss customers will react to the new models. The first vehicles are expected to arrive in Switzerland shortly, where they will then be approved for road use in accordance with local safety and quality standards.
