Fewer Swiss travelers in the USA
The willingness of Swiss citizens to travel to the USA has decreased significantly this year. Current data from the US International Trade Administration show a massive decline in visitor numbers from Switzerland.
In the period from January to August 2026, a total of 204,455 people traveled from Switzerland to the United States. Compared to previous years, this represents a significant slump in tourist exchange between the two countries.
Experts are observing this development with attention, as the USA is traditionally a very popular long-haul destination for Swiss tourists. Reasons for the decline are not yet detailed in the data, but the figures illustrate a clear turning point in travel behavior.
The tourism industry will now have to analyze whether this is a temporary phase or a long-term change. For the coming months, it remains to be seen whether travel activity toward North America will stabilize again.
