Identification of victims continues following serious bus accident in the Engadin
Following the tragic bus accident in the Lower Engadin last Thursday, investigations by the authorities are ongoing. Five people lost their lives in the accident. The police are currently working intensively to establish the identities of the deceased beyond any doubt.
The identification of the victims is proving difficult, however, and is taking more time than initially hoped. The responsible authorities announced that this process could take several more days. Out of consideration for the relatives and due to the ongoing police investigations, no further details regarding the individuals have been released so far.
The accident occurred under difficult conditions, which further complicated the recovery efforts on site. Experts are now investigating the exact sequence of events to understand how the crash could have occurred. The public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to clarify the technical and human causes of the accident.
The tragedy has caused great distress in the region and throughout Switzerland. The authorities are asking the public and the media for patience while the identification process and forensic examinations continue. Further official information is expected once the victims' families have been notified.
