Swiss startups lead the world in deep-tech investments
Switzerland holds a leading position in the promotion of technological innovation. As current data shows, the country invests an above-average share of its venture capital in so-called deep-tech startups. These are young companies based on scientific breakthroughs or complex technological developments.
With a share of 63 percent of all venture capital investments, Switzerland ranks first worldwide. It thus surpasses major economic nations such as China, which directs 56 percent of its capital into this sector, and the USA, with a share of 54 percent. These figures underscore the high innovative strength of Switzerland as a business location.
For institutional investors from Switzerland, this development presents new opportunities, but also specific challenges. Since deep-tech projects often require a longer development time, they necessitate a long-term strategy. At the same time, they offer the potential to significantly shape future industries such as robotics, artificial intelligence, or biotechnology.
Experts see this high investment rate as a strong signal for Switzerland's competitiveness. The close cooperation between Swiss universities and the private sector forms the foundation for this success. It remains to be seen how these investments will affect the country's labor market and economic stability in the long term.
