Gaza residents welcome Eid al-Adha under difficult humanitarian conditions

This year, Eid al-Adha arrives in the Gaza Strip under very harsh conditions. Instead of the usual joy and celebrations, residents are living in a state of sadness and anxiety due to the ongoing war and the lack of basic necessities that used to characterize this religious season.

In past years, markets were filled with families buying new Eid clothes for children. But this year, these clothes have become unavailable in most markets, and if found, their prices are very high and families cannot afford to buy them. The making of traditional Eid sweets, which used to decorate tables and bring joy to hearts, is also absent.

As for the sacrificial animals, which are an essential part of the rituals of this Eid, they have become very difficult to find. Due to economic difficulties and the closure of crossings, the prices of sheep and cattle have risen significantly, depriving many families of performing this Sunnah and distributing meat to the needy as is customary.

Many residents of the Strip describe this Eid as the most difficult of their lives. Many people have lost their homes and are now living in tents or shelters, making it difficult to feel the atmosphere of Eid. Instead of celebrating, people spend most of their time searching for water, food, and medical care.

In conclusion, Eid al-Adha passes in Gaza this year without signs of joy and happiness. While Muslims around the world celebrate, the residents of the Strip hope that this crisis will end soon so that security and peace return to their lives, and with them, the Eid celebrations in the coming years.
