Israel releases South Korean citizens after detaining aid ship
The South Korean government announced on Thursday the release of several of its citizens who were being held by Israeli authorities. This decision followed a period of tension caused by the detention of a ship carrying humanitarian aid on its way to the Gaza Strip.
These Korean citizens were aboard an aid ship attempting to reach the Strip to provide support to the population there. Israeli forces intercepted the ship and prevented it from continuing its journey, leading to the detention of those on board for investigation.
South Korea's presidential office, known as the "Blue House," confirmed that the released citizens are in good health. The office explained that the Korean government followed the case with great concern through diplomatic channels to ensure the safety of its citizens and facilitate their return.
This incident reflects the significant difficulties faced by international aid ships attempting to reach the Gaza Strip amid complex political conditions. South Korea reaffirms its ongoing commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, especially in regions experiencing security tensions or conflicts.
