New License Renewal Rules for Seniors Aged 70: Return License for TPASS Discounts
Today's briefing covers new license renewal regulations for elderly drivers, the impact of AI technology entering university classrooms, and several film and television works exploring social issues.
To address the safety of elderly drivers, the government has launched a new license renewal system. Drivers of cars and motorcycles aged 70 and over must now regularly complete physical examinations and traffic safety education courses to renew their licenses. To encourage seniors to reduce driving themselves and make better use of public transportation, those who choose to voluntarily return their licenses will receive two consecutive years of TPASS (Executive Yuan Commuter Pass) discounts, providing them with more flexibility and safety in their daily travels.
Higher education is experiencing the impact of AI technology, with some universities already integrating AI into mandatory cultural field internship courses. In the classroom, AI tools can assist students in organizing interview transcripts, searching literature, digesting large amounts of research material, and refining argumentation processes. This teaching project aims to help students learn how to apply technology to research in the humanities and social sciences in the era of AI ubiquity, improving the efficiency of data processing.
Recently, several film, television, and literary works have focused on social and educational issues. The film "Lost Paradise" challenges difficult subject matter by exploring child and youth sexual bullying in care institutions; meanwhile, "Iron Fist Education" addresses school bullying and psychological healing through its story. Additionally, the new book "Eating Post Office Rice" records the bits and pieces of grassroots work at the post office, showing delicate observations of interpersonal interactions. Regarding lifestyle services, Chunghwa Post's "i-Box" has also become a new choice for the public to send and receive packages, providing a more convenient pickup process.
