Today's Must-Read: AI Enters University Classrooms and New Public Service Experiences
Today's news highlights focus on educational transformation and daily applications of public services. University courses have begun introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist teaching, while Chunghwa Post's automated pickup services bring convenience to the public. Additionally, citizens are reminded to pay attention to identity document updates and accessibility facilities in public transportation.
With the popularization of AI technology, Taiwan's higher education has begun incorporating AI into teaching plans. In university "Cultural Field Internship" courses, students have started using AI tools to assist in organizing interview transcripts, searching literature, and refining arguments. This initiative aims to allow students to master modern technological tools while learning traditional research methods to meet future academic and professional demands.
Regarding public services, the "iBox" automated pickup service launched by Chunghwa Post provides citizens with more flexible delivery options. These are smart lockers set up in various locations, allowing recipients to pick up items at any time upon receiving an SMS notification, without needing to coordinate with couriers. Practical experience shows that the system sends instant notifications once the package arrives, and the pickup process is simple.
Concerning personal identity documents, if a National ID card has been used for many years (such as twenty years) and the photo differs significantly from one's current appearance, citizens are advised to visit a "Household Registration Office" (the government agency responsible for household and identity registration) for a replacement. Timely updates of ID photos can prevent complications when identity verification is required.
In terms of urban transportation, the bus system continues to implement accessibility services. When a passenger using an electric mobility scooter needs to board, the driver will pause the journey for a few minutes to get off and set up a "bridge plate" (a ramp connecting the bus door to the pavement) to assist the passenger in boarding safely. This practice ensures that citizens with different physical conditions can use public transportation equally.
