People's Party urges government to expedite use of central budget to address industrial waste leakage in Prachin Buri province
The flood situation in Prachin Buri province has raised serious environmental concerns. Most recently, the People's Party has called on the government to expedite the approval of the central budget to address the issue of industrial waste leaking from factories and storage areas, as the floodwaters have caused chemicals to contaminate natural water sources and local agricultural land.
A representative from the People's Party stated that this is an urgent matter that cannot wait, as the leaked chemicals could have long-term health impacts on local residents and destroy the ecosystem of the Prachin Buri River. Utilizing the central budget would enable relevant agencies to access the area and dispose of the industrial waste quickly and safely before the toxins spread any further.
In addition to the disposal of chemicals, the People's Party has proposed that the government establish a task force to inspect the safety standards of industrial factories in flood-prone areas nationwide to prevent similar incidents in the future. They emphasized that prevention is better than resolving problems after damage has already been done to the environment and the quality of life of the people.
At present, residents in Prachin Buri province must continue to monitor the flood situation closely and await assistance from government agencies in managing the impacts, both in terms of providing relief to victims and restoring the environment to a safe state. The People's Party has affirmed that it will continue to follow this matter closely to ensure the government takes concrete action.
