South Korea aims to welcome more Thai tourists after a 20% surge in travel during the first 5 months
The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has revealed the latest data on international tourism, stating that the number of Thai tourists visiting South Korea continues to show a growing trend, which is a positive sign for the tourism industries of both countries.
During the first five months of 2026, the number of Thai tourists traveling to South Korea increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. This data reflects that South Korea remains a top destination for Thai tourists who enjoy experiencing culture and atmosphere abroad.
According to statistics from 2025, a total of 333,930 Thai tourists visited South Korea. With the rapid growth seen this year, the KTO has set a target of 410,000 Thai tourists for the entire year of 2026 to further stimulate the tourism economy.
To achieve this goal, the Korea Tourism Organization has partnered with key allies, such as Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC) and Thai Airways, to organize promotional activities and offer special privileges to Thai tourists during the second half of this year.
This collaboration focuses on creating incentives and facilitating travel, making it easier and more cost-effective for Thai people to plan their trips to South Korea, which is expected to help drive tourist numbers toward the set target.
