Suntory to introduce PET bottle recycling technology in Thailand, starting in 2028
Suntory Holdings has announced plans to introduce an advanced plastic recycling technology known as "Flake-to-Preform" (FtoP) in Thailand to increase the efficiency of producing more environmentally friendly plastic bottles.
The FtoP technology is a direct recycling process that allows PET plastic flakes to be converted into new bottles using less energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions during the production process, marking a significant step toward sustainable plastic waste management in Thailand.
According to the roadmap, Suntory will begin using this technology to produce plastic bottles made from 100% recycled PET plastic by 2028. This initiative will help reduce the use of virgin plastic derived from petroleum and support the maximization of domestic resource circulation.
This move is part of the company's global goal to transition toward sustainable packaging, responding to the needs of environmentally conscious consumers and Thailand's future policies on plastic waste reduction.
