Thailand ready to host Global Wellness Summit (GWS) 2026 in Phuket, aiming to build a new economy
The Ministry of Public Health has announced Thailand's readiness to host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) in 2026, which will be held in Phuket province. This event is considered a significant international platform that will bring together health experts from around the world to exchange knowledge and new innovations.
The core concept of this event is "Health for Wealth," where the Thai government aims to elevate Thailand's health and medical tourism industry to international recognition, in order to attract more tourists and investors from across the globe to utilize services in Thailand.
Furthermore, the GWS 2026 conference is part of a strategy to drive the Thai economy through new industries, or the New S-Curve, which focuses on developing modern health technologies and services to generate sustainable income for the country and create jobs for local people.
Phuket province was selected as the venue due to its readiness in terms of infrastructure, beautiful tourist attractions, and internationally recognized health service standards, all of which will effectively promote Thailand's image as an international medical hub.
Hosting this event is therefore not only about medical development but also about stimulating the local and national economy to grow strongly in the future. The Thai government is currently accelerating preparations in all aspects to ensure that this conference is a success and provides maximum benefits to Thailand.
