Ending the legend of the 'seven-generation road'! Ministry of Transport prepares to open M82 motorway, Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo section, for free starting August 28
The Ministry of Transport is preparing to share good news for motorists by announcing the temporary opening of the Intercity Motorway No. 82 (M82), Ekkachai-Ban Phaeo section, free of charge starting from August 28 onwards.
This motorway project was built to solve the severe traffic congestion on Rama II Road, which in the past was nicknamed the 'seven-generation road' due to decades of continuous construction and road surface improvements, impacting the journeys of people who regularly use this route to travel to the southern region.
The opening of the M82 route will provide an additional, more convenient, and faster travel option, allowing vehicles to travel on the elevated motorway to bypass areas with heavy traffic, effectively reducing travel time from Bangkok to Samut Sakhon province and nearby areas.
Furthermore, the opening of this new motorway is considered a significant step in upgrading Thailand's transportation infrastructure to accommodate the increasing volume of vehicles and enhance driving safety for all road users.
Interested members of the public can follow the details and conditions for using the route through official announcements from the Department of Highways to prepare before the trial run begins on August 28.
