Prime Minister opens THAIDEF-EX 2026, focusing on developing the defense industry for the Thai economy
On July 8, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of the defense industry exhibition, THAIDEF-EX 2026, at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence in Nonthaburi province. The event was organized to showcase Thailand's potential and technology in the field of national defense.
The Prime Minister stated that the primary goal of this event is to promote a stronger and more self-reliant defense industry, which will help reduce the import of military equipment from abroad and create competitive economic opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs on the international stage.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized a policy that prioritizes building cooperation and peaceful coexistence, utilizing the concept of "Make Love, Not War" to convey that the development of the defense industry is intended for security and self-defense, not for aggression or creating conflict with others.
Supporting this industry is considered part of the national development strategy to generate employment and facilitate the transfer of advanced technology to Thai personnel, which will contribute to long-term economic growth and build confidence among various sectors, both domestically and internationally.
