Thailand in the Spotlight! 4 Chinese Tech Giants Invest 70 Billion Baht to Expand Production Bases and Research Centers
Thailand is stepping up to become a regional technology hub as four leading Chinese technology companies—Xiaomi, ChangAn, InnoLight, Eoptolink, and Huawei—have announced major investment plans in Thailand, totaling over 70 billion baht, to expand production bases and establish research and development (R&D) centers in industrial estates across the country.
This investment covers several key industries of the future, particularly the electric vehicle (EV) sector, which is a primary focus for automotive companies like ChangAn and Xiaomi. Additionally, there are investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers by leading tech firms like Huawei, as well as network equipment manufacturers such as InnoLight and Eoptolink.
The Thai government has implemented proactive policies to attract foreign investment, focusing on the transfer of advanced technology to upgrade the skills of the Thai workforce and build a robust supply chain. The entry of these companies will not only help create local jobs but also lay a crucial foundation for Thailand to become a significant international technology manufacturing base.
Currently, relevant agencies are accelerating coordination to facilitate the establishment of factories and research centers in suitable industrial estates. It is expected that the initial phase of investment will become clearly visible in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and provinces with well-prepared infrastructure, which will have a positive impact on the country's overall economy in the long term.
