Political parties push for amendment of the Gold Card Act, aiming to restructure management for transparency
Political parties in Thailand are currently working together to push for an amendment to the National Health Security Act, commonly known as the Gold Card Act, with the primary goal of improving the management of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) to be more efficient and transparent.
A key point of this legislative amendment is to restructure the executive board to prevent issues related to excessively long tenures. There is a proposal to limit terms of office to ensure personnel rotation and prevent the consolidation of administrative power for up to 20 years.
Furthermore, there is a proposal to include financial experts on the board to help oversee and control budget spending for maximum cost-effectiveness. This also includes amending the law to better integrate operations between the Ministry of Public Health, primary care units, and health promotion agencies to ensure they are aligned.
These proposals focus on utilizing real-world data for decision-making and incorporating feedback directly from the citizens who use the services, ensuring that Thailand's health security system can provide comprehensive and sustainable care for the public in the long term.
