Thailand Joins Hands with the Netherlands, Signs MOU Aiming to Develop Chip Industry to Global Standards
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) of Thailand has announced a significant partnership with the Netherlands to elevate Thailand toward becoming an international hub for the chip manufacturing industry. This collaboration marks a crucial step in the future development of the country's technology and economy.
On October 14, Prof. Dr. Yoschanan Vongsawad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MHESI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade to establish official cooperation in exchanging knowledge and advanced technologies essential for the production of semiconductors and computer chips.
The Netherlands is a world-leading expert in chip manufacturing technology, particularly in the machinery used for the most advanced production processes. This partnership will enable Thailand to access technology and specialized personnel, which will help promote investment and accelerate the growth of the electronics industry in Thailand.
In addition to technological development, the collaboration focuses on human resource development. It will promote education and training for Thai engineers to prepare them for roles in the chip industry, which is a core sector driving the global digital economy today.
This partnership between Thailand and the Netherlands serves as a promising start in building technological security for the nation. Pushing for Thailand to become a chip manufacturing hub will not only create new jobs but also sustainably enhance Thailand's competitiveness on the global stage.
