Ministry of Public Health pushes Thailand toward becoming a global health hub, prepares to host GWS 2026
The Ministry of Public Health is moving forward with the full-scale implementation of its "Wellness Economy" policy to elevate Thailand into a global health hub, focusing on creating added value for the health tourism industry and comprehensive medical services.
The key strategy for this initiative consists of four pillars: promoting health tourism, developing international-standard medical services, supporting the recognition of Thai herbal products, and developing accommodations and environments conducive to health care to attract tourists and health-conscious individuals from all over the world.
Furthermore, Thailand has been honored to host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) in 2026, which will be held in Phuket. This serves as a significant opportunity to showcase Thailand's potential on the international stage and to stimulate the local economy through tourism and professional conferences.
These preparations not only generate revenue for the country but also improve the quality of life for the Thai people through increased access to high-quality, modern health services, which will help strengthen Thailand's image as a premier global health destination in the future.
