GISTDA pushes forward with the 'Thailand Spaceport' project to become a national space hub
The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) has announced a key strategic plan to develop the 'Thailand Spaceport' project, aiming to elevate Thailand to become a leader in space technology at both the regional and global levels. The focus is on building modern infrastructure to support the space industry of the future.
In this endeavor, GISTDA has laid three key pillars: legal, technological, and investment, to ensure the project's stability and sustainability. Regarding investment, the agency is prioritizing the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which will be the heart of attracting capital from both domestic and international investors to participate.
As for the construction site, GISTDA has identified the suitability of Thailand's coastal areas, as their geographical characteristics are favorable for launching rockets and spacecraft, which will allow operations to be conducted efficiently and safely according to international standards.
This project is not only about developing space technology but also about creating new economic opportunities for Thailand, including job creation, the transfer of advanced technology, and the promotion of related industries, all of which will have a positive impact on the country's long-term growth.
In summary, the Thailand Spaceport project marks a significant step for Thailand in fully entering the space economy era. If successful, this project will enhance Thailand's competitiveness and help it become a key space hub in Southeast Asia in the future.
