Thailand prepares to send 690 athletes to the 2026 Asian Games, targeting 15 gold medals
The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports has revealed the latest preparations for sending the Thai athletic contingent to compete in the 20th Asian Games, which will be held in Nagoya, Japan, in 2026. This event is considered the most important sporting spectacle on the Asian continent.
In an official press conference, the Ministry stated that it will send a total of 690 Thai athletes to compete in a wide range of sports. Intensive preparations regarding physical fitness, mental health, and training techniques are underway to ensure that every athlete is as prepared as possible before traveling to the actual competition.
Regarding the goal for this competition, sports associations and relevant agencies have set a target of at least 15 gold medals to bring prestige to Thailand and elevate the standards of the Thai sports industry on the international stage, which is considered a challenging task for all athletes.
Beyond the medal count, participating in this competition is also a significant opportunity to exchange experiences with athletes from across Asia and serves as preparation for other world-class tournaments in the future.
Thai citizens can join in sending encouragement and following the movements of the Thai athletic contingent closely throughout the competition period, with the confidence that every athlete will perform to the best of their ability to bring success back to all Thai people.
