Government prepares to propose plan for Thai-Malaysian border fence to curb illegal activities

Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is preparing to propose a project for the construction of a fence along the Thai-Malaysian border to the mobile Cabinet meeting for consideration on ways to address security issues in the southern region.

The main goal of building this fence is to increase the efficiency of controlling and intercepting the smuggling of illicit goods, as well as the cross-border trafficking of narcotics, which are major issues that have continuously impacted the economy and the safety of people in the border areas.

In addition, Mr. Sihasak is scheduled to travel to hold discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia on September 6 to exchange information and coordinate cooperation between the two countries, ensuring that security operations are clear and aligned in the same direction.

This action is considered a significant step in raising the standards of border management between Thailand and Malaysia to ensure greater safety. The government hopes that this project will help reduce transnational crime and effectively build confidence among the local population.
