Thai PBS reaffirms its operational independence following OAG budget audit
The Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS) has issued a statement clarifying the audit conducted by the Office of the Auditor General (OAG), emphasizing the fundamental principle of independence in news reporting, which is the core of its public media mandate to remain free from any form of external interference.
Regarding budget management, the station clarified that although its mission and scope of work have increased more than tenfold since its inception, it has consistently operated within the same original budget without requesting any increases, in strict adherence to financial discipline.
This statement was issued to provide the public with an accurate understanding of the organization's status and operations. Thai PBS reaffirms that public media must maintain agility and independence to effectively perform its duty of oversight and provide information that is beneficial to society in a transparent and fair manner.
