Prime Minister Anutin reveals no official report received yet regarding the resolution for Dr. Sarana to vacate the position of NBTC Chairman
On July 21, 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview to the media regarding the removal of Dr. Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck from his position as Chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), stating that he has not yet received an official report regarding the resolution.
The status of the NBTC Chairman is a matter of public interest, as the NBTC is a key organization responsible for regulating Thailand's communication and telecommunications systems, which directly impacts mobile phone and internet users nationwide.
Mr. Anutin added that once official reports or relevant documents reach the Office of the Prime Minister, the government will immediately proceed with an investigation in accordance with legal procedures and relevant regulations to ensure clarity and avoid disrupting the agency's operations.
At this time, the work of the NBTC continues as normal within the scope of its existing authority. The public and relevant parties must wait for further updates from the government regarding what orders or decisions will be made once the official report is received.
