Getting to know MHCC: A new standard for mental health care for Thai people nationwide
Currently, mental health issues have become a matter of increasing importance for Thai people. The Department of Mental Health has accelerated the development of a care system through the MHCC project, or Mental Health Counseling Center standards, to ensure that the public can access quality services that meet international standards.
This project has a primary goal of creating a network of counseling centers covering various areas across the country, so that those experiencing stress, anxiety, or other mental health problems can receive care quickly and safely. Currently, the service has been expanded to over 776 locations throughout Thailand.
Having counseling centers that meet MHCC standards helps patients receive accurate advice from experts, which is a crucial step in preventing mental health crises that could otherwise escalate. Furthermore, it helps bridge the gap in accessing public health services, allowing people in the community to receive counseling closer to home.
For those experiencing mental health problems, or those who have someone close to them in need of assistance, you can contact the Department of Mental Health's hotline at 1323, which is available 24 hours a day, to ensure that everyone receives timely help and enjoys a better quality of life.
