Cabinet adjusts new visa-free criteria to enhance convenience for foreign tourists
The Cabinet has approved the revision of visa exemption criteria, or Visa Free, for foreigners traveling to Thailand for tourism, aiming to promote the tourism industry and stimulate further economic growth for the country.
Under these new criteria, foreigners from many countries will be entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum of 30 days without the need to apply for a visa in advance. Additionally, there is a group eligible for a stay of up to 15 days, an adjustment made to align with current policies on welcoming tourists.
For tourists not included in the visa-free group, the government maintains the Visa on Arrival (VoA) measure, which allows foreigners to apply for a visa at immigration checkpoints upon arrival in Thailand for a stay of up to 15 days, facilitating those who wish to travel for short periods.
This policy adjustment is considered a key strategy for the Thai government to attract more tourists from around the world to visit Thailand, with the expectation that it will help generate revenue for the country and support the continuous recovery of tourism-related businesses.
