Over the past week, Thai society has paid significant attention to the scandal involving a former famous monk, known as 'Sami Chote,' whose inappropriate behavior and serious violations of monastic discipline were exposed, leading to widespread criticism across the online world.
Num Kongkapan Sangsuriya, a well-known television host, expressed his opinion on the matter, revealing that he had heard rumors about the individual's questionable behavior even before it became a major news story. This interview serves as a reminder to the public about the importance of verifying information before placing trust or faith in any single individual.
Furthermore, Num Kongkapan shared a message for Buddhists and the general public, stating that in an era where information on social media spreads rapidly, one should consume news with mindfulness and reason at all times to avoid falling victim to blind belief or being deceived by those who exploit religion for personal gain.
This incident serves as an important lesson for Thai society to reflect and prioritize the verification of facts, as well as to exercise discernment when choosing to support individuals or organizations, in order to preserve faith that is truly aligned with religious principles.
