Government moves forward with 'Thailand Zero Dropout Plus' project to address school dropouts
The Thai government has announced the continued implementation of the 'Thailand Zero Dropout Plus' policy to address the issue of children and youth dropping out of the education system. The Prime Minister emphasized that prioritizing education is the core of the country's long-term development.
The Prime Minister stated that solving the dropout problem is the most worthwhile investment in the nation's human capital, which will positively impact future economic and social growth. Over the past 2-3 years, the government has worked to collect data and track down children who have left the system in order to bring them back onto the path of learning.
This project focuses on collaboration between government agencies and relevant sectors to create a comprehensive support mechanism. This includes providing scholarships, adjusting learning formats to be more flexible, and looking after the living conditions of families to prevent children from dropping out of school prematurely.
The success of this project is not measured solely by the number of children returning to the system, but also by creating opportunities for youth to acquire the skills necessary for careers in the modern era. The government is confident that these serious efforts will help reduce educational inequality in a sustainable manner.
