Deputy Interior Minister visits Nan province to accelerate assistance for flash flood victims
On August 20, Mr. Jaset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited Nan province to closely monitor the flood situation following continuous heavy rainfall in several areas, which caused water levels in major rivers to rise and flood residential areas in various districts.
From the site visit, it was found that the situation still requires continuous monitoring, especially regarding the volume of water from the Pua River that is flowing into low-lying areas. Relevant agencies have mobilized forces to assist affected residents, including evacuating patients and vulnerable groups to safe areas, as well as distributing relief bags and drinking water to alleviate immediate hardships.
In addition to current relief efforts, the Ministry of Interior has ordered local agencies to prepare post-flood recovery plans. They have been instructed to expedite the assessment of damage to homes and agricultural areas so that budget and resources can be allocated to compensate the public as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
Meanwhile, the Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for residents in the northern region to be cautious of heavy rain and flash floods during this period. The public is urged to closely follow news from government authorities and remain prepared for the situation, which may change at any time, to ensure the safety of lives and property.
