Thailand Accelerates AI Sovereignty to Elevate the Nation's Digital Economy
The Big Data Institute (BDI) collaborated with EY Thailand to host a seminar titled “AI Sovereignty & the Digital Nation: Thailand’s Strategic Imperative” to discuss approaches for developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology that is secure and tailored to Thailand’s context.
The event aimed to build understanding regarding the importance of 'AI sovereignty,' which refers to Thailand's ability to develop and control AI technology independently, without relying solely on foreign technology, in order to mitigate future risks related to data and national security.
Experts at the event stated that having a robust AI infrastructure is essential for the transition to a digital economy. Thailand must prepare in terms of human resources, relevant legislation, and big data management so that both the private and public sectors can utilize AI to enhance operational efficiency safely.
Furthermore, collaboration between the public and private sectors is considered the key to driving this policy into reality, enabling Thailand to compete on an international level and establishing a solid foundation for the development of advanced technology that will benefit the people and the nation's economy in the long term.
