People's Party MP visits Khlong Thom Center fire site, proposes 4 fire prevention measures for Bangkok
On August 29, Mr. Parames Vithayaraksarn, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Bangkok, Pom Prap Sattru Phai district, from the People's Party, visited the site of the fire at Khlong Thom Center to assess the situation and the impact on the local residents.
Following the site visit, Mr. Parames expressed his concern regarding the safety of aging buildings in Bangkok, which are at high risk of recurring fire incidents, particularly in densely populated commercial areas with long-standing building structures.
To prevent such issues in the long term, Mr. Parames proposed four key measures to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration: accelerating proactive inspections of old buildings throughout Bangkok, improving regulations for the effective maintenance of fire extinguishers, increasing the strictness of electrical system inspections, and developing emergency response plans for congested community areas.
These proposals are intended for relevant agencies to consider in order to modernize and improve safety regulations, aiming to reduce risks and protect the lives and property of citizens in the capital city.
This incident serves as an important lesson, highlighting the necessity of ensuring the safety of old buildings in Bangkok. All parties hope that the implementation of these proposals will help build greater confidence and safety for entrepreneurs and residents living in the area in the future.
