Asian Development Bank (ADB) lowers Thailand's 2027 economic growth forecast to 1.9%
The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, has released its latest report on Thailand's economic outlook, lowering the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast for 2027 to 1.9%. This figure reflects the challenges that the Thai economy is currently facing.
The primary reason for this downward revision is that Thailand has benefited from the 'Technology Investment Cycle' only in the short term. Although investment in the technology industry has helped stimulate the economy in the past, experts from the ADB believe that the momentum from this factor is likely to weaken significantly next year.
Furthermore, the report warns relevant sectors to prepare for potential scenarios, as external factors and global investment trends are constantly changing. Relying solely on the momentum of the technology cycle may not be sufficient to help the Thai economy achieve its long-term growth targets.
This adjustment in the forecast serves as a warning signal that Thailand must accelerate the implementation of new measures to strengthen its domestic economy, rather than relying solely on external factors, in order to be able to withstand global economic volatility securely in the future.
