Political parties push for amendment of the Gold Card Act, aiming to restructure management for transparency
Political parties are currently prioritizing the amendment of the National Health Security Act, commonly known as the Gold Card Act, to improve the management of the National Health Security Office (NHSO) so that it is more efficient and better addresses the needs of the public.
The key issue in this legal amendment is the restructuring of the executive board to prevent problems associated with long-term tenure. There is a proposal to limit terms of office to prevent the monopolization of power and to ensure the continuous rotation of knowledgeable and capable personnel into these roles.
Furthermore, there is a proposal to add financial experts to the board to help oversee and control budget expenditures, ensuring they are as cost-effective and transparent as possible. This also includes pushing for the integration of operations between the Ministry of Public Health, primary care units, and health promotion agencies into a unified system, allowing the public to access medical services conveniently and rapidly.
These proposals focus on using real-world data to inform decision-making and prioritizing public feedback, ensuring that this legislative amendment can elevate the quality of life for Thai people and make the health security system sustainable in the long term.
