Thailand Announces New Regulations to Increase Power to Deport Foreigners Who Break the Law
The Thai government has announced new regulations regarding the deportation of foreigners, with the Prime Minister signing the Office of the Prime Minister's Regulation on Deportation, which will take effect from August 28th onwards, to increase efficiency in managing issues involving foreigners who commit offenses in Thailand.
Under these new regulations, the Ministry of Interior will be empowered to directly order the deportation of foreigners who break the law if that individual exhibits behavior that is dangerous to public order or causes harm to the safety of the public and the nation.
In addition to the power to order deportation, the regulation also sets measures to ban deported foreigners from re-entering Thailand for a period as prescribed by law, in order to prevent those who have committed offenses from returning to repeat their actions in the future.
This update to the regulations is part of the government's efforts to organize society and ensure the safety of tourists and citizens in the country, focusing on more strictly enforcing the law against foreigners who reside in or visit Thailand.
Citizens and foreigners residing in Thailand should closely follow information regarding these regulations to understand the guidelines and the consequences that will arise if the law is violated in the future.
