Bitkub joins digital baht pilot project to develop new payment models
Bitkub Blockchain Technology Co., Ltd. has announced a significant partnership by joining the second phase of the THB Programmable Payment pilot project, under the supervision of the Bank of Thailand. The goal is to develop a more efficient and secure digital baht payment system.
This project is being conducted under the Enhanced Regulatory Sandbox framework, which tests financial innovations in a real-world environment. A total of 15 leading partners from various sectors are participating to collectively lay the foundation for blockchain infrastructure for Thailand's future financial system.
Bitkub and its partners plan to develop and test four use cases to see how blockchain technology can enhance the convenience of financial transactions. The focus is on setting automated payment conditions to ensure transaction accuracy and reduce risks.
Participation in this project marks a major milestone for the Thai private sector in applying modern technology to the country's core financial system, which will provide users with faster and more transparent services in line with international standards.
In the future, if this second phase of testing is successful, the Programmable Payment system could be implemented on a wider scale, which would support the stable growth of Thailand's digital economy and keep pace with global financial technology changes.
