Thai Ministry of Public Health joins FAO forum to promote 'One Health' concept for food safety
The Thai Ministry of Public Health has participated in an international conference held by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to discuss food security and health, emphasizing the importance of building international cooperation to prevent zoonotic diseases.
During the meeting, representatives from Thailand presented the 'One Health' concept, which involves collaboration between public health, veterinary, and environmental agencies to control emerging diseases and address the issue of antimicrobial resistance in food—a critical issue currently impacting public health globally.
Furthermore, Thailand showcased its vision for developing 'One Health Cities' as a model for managing safe and sustainable food systems, focusing on strengthening community-level efforts and utilizing technology to monitor the quality of raw materials from the source to the consumer.
Promoting this policy not only helps elevate domestic food safety standards but also builds confidence among international trading partners, which will benefit Thailand's economy and agricultural exports in the long term.
In conclusion, participating in this meeting marks a significant step for Thailand in demonstrating its role as a regional leader in public health, aiming to create a sustainable and safe health system for everyone in the future.
